Convenient Dry Eye Center

What Causes Dry Eye?
Dry eye can be caused by a number of factors, including aging, certain medications, medical conditions like diabetes or thyroid disease, screen time, contact lens use, or environmental conditions like wind or dry air. It can also happen when your body doesn't produce enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly due to poor tear quality.
Meibomian Gland Dystrophy (MGD) Aqueous Deficiency
Evaporative Dry Eye
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction
When your eyes do not produce enough tears, it is often caused by aqueous deficiency. This type of dry eye disease is the least common cause accounting for only about a tenth of cases.
The tear film is made up of 3 distinct layers, a mucus layer to keep the tear in contact with the eye, a water layer to keep the eye hydrated, and an oil layer to keeps the water from evaporating. If any of the 3 layers are out of balance, evaporative dry eye is the result.
People with evaporative dry eye may also have meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). The meibomian glands are the tiny glands along the top and bottom edges of the eyelids that produce the oil layer of the tear film.If the glands are blocked or otherwise unable to produce oil, your tears might dry up before they can fully moisturize the eye.
How We Diagnose and Treat Dry Eyes
IPL Therapy
At Frisco Family Eye Care, we offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy as an advanced treatment option for certain eye conditions. IPL therapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses light pulses to target and address specific issues related to dry eye syndrome and meibomian gland dysfunction.
The treatment works by stimulating the natural production of tears and improving the function of the meibomian glands, which are essential for tear film stability. IPL therapy is a secure and effective way to improve overall eye health and relieve dry eye discomfort.
Forma-I
A gentle, non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) treatment designed to target one of the root causes of dry eye: meibomian gland dysfunction.
During treatment, controlled heat and energy are applied to the eyelid area. This softens and clears blocked oil glands, restores the natural lipid layer of your tears, and reduces tear evaporation. The result is a healthier, more stable tear film that provides long-lasting relief from dryness, irritation, and discomfort.
In addition to improving tear quality, the RF energy also stimulates natural collagen production, helping to enhance eyelid tone and overall eye health.
Forma-I allows us to go beyond temporary fixes and offer a solution that addresses the underlying cause of dry eye for real, lasting comfort.
